Mr. Darien.
Mr. Darien founded Team Kairon and built the room it plays in: 30 battlestations, fiber, arcade cabinets, and a chunk of his own paycheck.
Before this, he spent seven years at Razer. He founded and led the global content and community team, won Best of CES People's Choice six years in a row, and sat on the IPO team. Then came the Red Bull era, running US programming for Red Bull Gaming.
Razer and Red Bull were the original big-money sponsors in esports, the brands that turned LAN rats into pros. These are the teams and players they backed while he was there. He made the content, ran the campaigns, and built the communities around them.
He's also a tournament-level Smash player. Every time a student he coaches beats him (rare), he levels up. Passing him is the goal, and he makes sure it stays a moving target.
Now he's building the next legends.

Practice runs Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 3:45 to 5:45 PM (four hours a week minimum), in the Tech Center next to the library. Matches are played on campus with the coach in the room.
The Code.
This team has a trophy case, and it didn't get there by accident.
Showing up is the price of a jersey.
Four hours a week. Minimum.
Match or no match, every week. Practice runs Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 3:45 to 5:45, in the Tech Center. Any two sessions get you your four. Your roster spot is earned every week, not once.
Practice before play.
No free play in the Dojo until your hours are in. Put in the work first, then goof off.
Can't make it? Say so, and find your sub.
Tell Sensei before you miss, and line up a teammate to cover your seat. An empty seat is a forfeit, and we can't afford to lose our good standing in the league.
Match day is sacred.
Be in the room 30 minutes early. A no-show is a forfeit, forfeits are final, and five people lose because one person didn't come.
Grades first.
You have to meet the district's eligibility bar to compete. Fall below it and you sit until you're back.
Your account, your name.
You play on your own account only. No smurfing, no account sharing, no gamertag your grandma couldn't read.
Play clean.
No cheats, no exploits, no rage-quits. PlayVS counts a disconnect as intentional whether you meant it or not.
Respect is non-negotiable.
No slurs, no harassment, no trash talk that crosses the line. One strike here can end your season, and it's out of Sensei's hands.
Represent.
You're wearing Culver City's name: in the lobby chat, in the Discord, and online.

Every player is expected to help run the Kairon Open, twice a year.
Leave it cleaner than you found it.
Food, wrappers, cans, cups: if you brought it in, it leaves with you. Leave it in the Dojo and so help me.

Team Kairon Esports · Player Agreement · 2026–27
I, the undersigned player, agree to the following as a member of Team Kairon:
- Eligibility. I am enrolled at Culver City High School. I will meet the district's academic and attendance requirements, and I will show my grades to Coach Darien when asked. If I fall below eligibility, I will not compete until I'm back above it.
- Practice hours. I will put in at least four hours of practice every week, during practice sessions on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 3:45 to 5:45 PM, whether or not my team has a match that week. Practice comes before any free play in the Dojo.
- Absences and subs. If I can't make a practice or a match, I will tell Coach Darien before it happens and find a teammate to cover my seat. I understand that missed hours can move me to the bench, JV, or off the roster.
- Match day. I will be in the Tech Center 30 minutes before match time and play on campus under coach supervision. I understand that no-shows, empty seats and late arrivals cause forfeits, that PlayVS forfeits are final, and that they put our team's standing in the league at risk.
- Accounts. I will play only on my own PlayVS and game accounts, linked under my own name. I will never share an account or play on anyone else's, and I will keep my gamertag and cosmetics school-appropriate.
- Fair play. I will not cheat, use exploits or unauthorized software, leave matches, or disconnect on purpose. I understand PlayVS treats a disconnect I cause as intentional regardless of my intent.
- Conduct. I will not use hate speech, slurs, harassment, or excessive taunting, in game, in chat, in Discord, or online. I understand PlayVS penalties include suspensions, forfeits, and season-long or permanent bans, and that they can't be appealed.
- Phones and focus. My phone stays away during matches. I will follow my coach's and captain's calls during play.
- The Dojo. I will treat the Dojo's hardware like it's mine, because it's everyone's, and report damage right away. I will take my food, wrappers and trash with me every time and leave the room cleaner than I found it.
- Team events. I'm expected to help run the Kairon Open fundraisers. I understand donations and fundraising are voluntary and never a condition of making the team.
- Consequences. I understand that breaking this agreement can mean warnings, benching, removal from matches, or removal from the team, at the coach's discretion, on top of any league penalties.

The Kairon Open.
Twice a year, Kairon throws the doors open.
The KAIRON OPEN: a Smash bracket, a Fortnite box fight, and a snack table run by the team. The whole school and the community are invited, and every entry fee goes straight into the program.
The players run it. They seed the brackets, cast the matches, and work the table. Nobody pays their way onto this team. Everybody helps keep it alive.
Every Kairon player is expected to take part in both. Hit your goal and your name goes on the wall.

We ask every Kairon family for $100 or more a semester.
That's under $6 a week. Here's what it buys:
- Access to the best esports center in West LA: a LAN center, an arcade, and a gaming museum under one roof.
- 30 tournament-grade battlestations on fiber.
- Coaching from an industry pro who's worked in esports at the highest level, at Razer and Red Bull, the brands that built it.
- Real league play against schools across the country, with scholarships and college scouts on the other end of it.
- A program that's already won a championship.
Most families spend more than that on one new game and a controller.It's a steal.
It's a donation, not a fee. Nobody gets cut for not giving, but this team only exists because families do.
Every dollar goes straight into keeping Kairon in the game:

- PlayVS alone runs $595 for the year, and that's one league. HSEL and Vanta have their own fees, and right now nothing in the budget covers any of them.

- PCs, controllers, headsets, and the upgrades that keep 30 battlestations tournament-ready.

- The mice, chairs, and cables a season of ranked grinds into dust.

- The titles and licenses we compete in.

The Dojo is also a gaming museum: arcade cabinets, retro consoles, and hardware from every era, all playable, all in one room.
That N64 in your garage? The arcade cabinet your uncle swears he'll restore someday? The old PC parts in a drawer? We'll take them, and we'll give them a second life in front of kids who will actually play them.
